Spring clean from top to bottom in the new year

Spring clean from top to bottom in the new year

Kitchen

The kitchen is the place that brings joy to everyone. If your husband, wife or kids have had a bad day, you know what will cheer them up - their favourite meal in your sparkling clean kitchen.

Start by mixing two tablespoons of vinegar with a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Then dip a kitchen sponge into this liquid and wipe all the taps. They’ll sparkle in no time! Or simply add two drops of Domestos Lavendar Fresh to a litre of water and use this to clean your appliances and wipe the kitchen counters. Now start cooking that delicious, ressuring meal for your family.

Bathroom

A fresh bathroom is such a luxury. Clean the toilet, basin and shower with a mixture of bleach and water. For the toilet bowl, you can simply pour the bleach cleaning product under the rim of the seat and leave overnight before flushing.

Bedroom

You may be one of the many people who have ‘that chair’ in your bedroom - you know, ‘that chair’? On which everything gets dumped.

If the shirt has been worn once but it’s still “too clean” to go into the laundry basket, it goes onto the chair. Or the pair of shoes that needs cleaning. Or the party jacket that needs dry cleaning. In short, everything …

Every once in a while, vacuum the chair, mattress and carpet to get rid of any dust and dirt before wiping down surfaces. Then spray the air with your favourite room spray. You’ll have a fresh smelling and fabulously inviting bedroom in no time. And what is better than spending more quality time in your bedroom…?

Lounge

The last thing you want is for guests to see last year’s coffee stain on your couches. To remove stains, mix together 2 cups of water, 1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid and 1 tablespoon of vinegar. Dampen a microfibre cloth in this solution and blot out the stains.  You can use the same solution without the vinegar to wipe away dust on your furniture.

And, remember, a good playlist and helping hands from the rest of the family will cut down on cleaning time in a big way, and make it even more fun! OK, so which area are you going to tackle first?
