What are germs?

The majority of micro-organisms are not harmful, but some however, can cause infections that make people ill. We call these types of microorganisms 'germs'.

Did you know the word 'germ' is an umbrella term that covers a variety of different organisms that can make us ill, including bacteria, viruses and fungi (e.g mould).

Some of the most common germs are the ones that cause infectious intestinal disease (IID) and illnesses such as colds and 'flu.

Bleach is the only hygienic cleaner capable of killing all known germs including viruses, bacteria and fungi. Many other hygienic cleaners, such as antibacterial sprays, are only designed to tackle bacteria.
